EDR, Summer, #IOilSpill w Jeff Cutler & World Of WarCraft

environmental consultants, environmental consultant

My sincerest apologies on the long delay between posts. It is one part summer, one part new job. Oh and one part World Of Warcraft! I wont lie-WOW is super fun. But mostly summer and getting situated at a new gig. Alas, here is a new post. First off, yes I have left Sokolove Law in favor of the award winning confines of EDR and commonground in particular. The Sokolove experience was amazing because of the people who reside within those walls. I can say with absolute certainty that the people of Sokolove are not ambulance chasers, but people who truly help others in need of legal help. And there are alot of them! It was very eye opening and I am happy for my time there. Especially because they are on a path with their SEO strategy that will serve them well for years to come. I was thrilled to be a key part of the strategy that put the organization on that path to success.

As for commonground, right out of the gate we:

  1. Launched Reputation Management complete with some swell icons and empowering points structure.
  2. Created a Social Media presence in over 40 social channels, with an eye on sharing and listening at the outset.
  3. Brought the Twitter conversation into commonground via Environmental and Real Estate focused  Hastags with Tweetizen
  4. Created the #IOilSpill campaign with Jeff Cutler– an environmental and commercial real estate long term perspective of the BP Oil Spill

All in all, it EDR has been a fantastic move for me thus far. Great people! Full of challenges! Massive opportunity! I will be sure to share lessons learned as I go. Come to think of it, I have a few SEO thoughts to share in the coming weeks. For now, please be sure to follow @JeffCutler and his #IOilSpill insights.

2 Examples Of Legal Marketing Utilizing Social Media Effectively

My last post filled my in-box! I was shocked at how many folks pinged me to see more about what Sokolove law is doing to educate and engage people prior to them taking legal action. Today the NECN Personal Injury Sokolove page went live, so it only made sense to share it out as an example of what we are doing from a Social perspective:

personal injury, mesothelioma, asbestos, yaz The YazTalk site is also is taking an “educate before you take legal action” approach to legal marketing.  I cannot share any data points legally,  but I can say Social Media has been effective at extending the Sokolove brand.

I am happy to speak further about these sites offline.

What I Am Working On At Sokolove Law

There have been an increasing number of questions around what exactly I am doing at Sokolove Law these days? With that question in mind, let me preface this post by saying there is a legal component that prohibits me from sharing to much business intelligence. So with that, I can share the following list of brands I work on. This list is taken from an upcoming NECN presence I built with NECN for Sokolove Law:

Sokolove Law Logo

Sokolove Law

Sokolove Law is a personal injury law firm that has helped people just like you get the legal support you need, regardless of race or income.

MesoRc Logo

MesoRc

MesoRc is your resource to learn about your legal rights if you or a loved one suffers from an asbestos-related cancer. It is estimated that 30% of all current U.S. mesothelioma patients are military veterans. Since symptoms of mesothelioma due to asbestos exposure may not emerge for 35 or even 40 years, many veterans and workers alike are still being diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. MesoRc is your resource to learn about your legal rights whether you are a veteran or someone who was exposed to asbestos in the workplace.

Asbestos.net Logo

Asbestos.net

A comprehensive resource on asbestos and its devastating effects, including mesothelioma, asbestos cancer, and other asbestos-related diseases. Asbestos.net is your news resource for everything to do with asbestos exposure and the latest in mesothelioma treatment.

ChildRc Logo

ChildRc

NursingHomeLawRc Logo

NursingHomeLawRc

The 1987 Nursing Home Reform Act guarantees certain rights and freedoms to nursing home patients. If you or a family member has suffered neglect or nursing home abuse as a patient, contact our nursing home abuse attorneys today.

Long Term Disability Insurance Logo

Long Term Disability Insurance

People buy insurance to be protected against loss. Yet some insurance companies fail to investigate or deny claims based on a misrepresentation of the language in the insurance contract. Know your long term disability claim rights; use this site to learn how to fight being denied insurance.

Wage and Hour Logo

Wage & Hour

If you have unpaid wages owed to you or have been financially mistreated by an employer, you may be entitled to compensation. Know your rights with wage laws, as well as overtime laws and let us fight for you.

YazTalk Logo

YazTalk

YAZtalk is a hosted community dedicated to educating and supporting women suffering side-effects from the use of YAZ® , Yasmin® and Ocella®. YazTalk explains your legal rights and process associated with a Yaz Lawsuit.

The last item on the list, YazTalk is a site I spent a majority of the first 3 months of employment on.  It has been said it is “very progressive” for the law industry in that it is Social Media driven, complete with a Community Manager.  Is it working- yes! But sadly I cant share much other then to say that educating those who have a personal injury prior to them  taking legal action simply works. Social Media is a fantastic education vehicle for this process.

Lastly, my peers have done a great job at creating a cause around getting Asbestos banned. Check out Ban Asbestos Now campaign.

I wish there was actual data I could share, but alas I cant. However, I am working on a post about more social media and SEO gadgets. So be looking for that soon! Happy spring everyone!

Why I Officially Work At Sokolove Law Doing Social Media & SEO

Anyone who is paying attention to the Social Media world knows that the following 3 industries are slow to adopt SM into their marketing efforta:

  1. Law
  2. Finance
  3. Pharmaceutical

Say nothing about the culture associated with the companies within these industries. So why in the world would I go work at Sokolove Law? A number of colleagues thought I was crazy to work for a personal injury law firm, while others praised me. My friend and colleague Jim Storer is fascinated by what I am doing.  Jim I owe you a call and will be reaching out with some business ops soon!

Simply put, I took this position to crack the law nut. As you would imagine we have lofty goals that have a monetization attribute of our social presence. To me, this is the ultimate challenge in my career and I am really excited to get started. My focus will be SEO through the use of Social Media. While much of my job with still be creating a SM strategy (clarity- around  SEO) that simply works. So not much has changed other than I have one focus instead of 9 or 10 companies at once. I also have resources to execute on our plan which is simply amazing!

Although I will not be able to share much of what we do, I will still be maintaining this blog from an analyst perspective. A birds-eye view of the social media space if you will! Because what we are doing is considered “trailblazer”, the IP we acquire will have to stay within the Sokolove walls. BUT- I will stay up to date on trends and share perspectives and best practices that I deem worthy to share from Sokolove. All in all, nothing will change in regards to this blog presence.

Thank you to everyone who is religious about reading my posts. Thank you to those who have helped me get to where I am today. These are people I mention within Twitter and on this blog religiously- y know who you are! Without you- I would not be in a position I am today to do something simply awesome. Thank you so much for having the bearing on my career that you have had!

Lastly, thank you to AJ and the Authority Domains staff for giving me the opportunity to help them grow their business while being able to look at SEO through different shades. It is that perspective that has afforded me the opportunity I am presented with today! I have heard that life is experiences that pile up as valuable building blocks. The Authority Domains experience was a leaps and bounds for me professionally and I will always make sure to pat their backs as I progress further in my career.

On a final note! If I can ever be a sounding board for ideas, a reference for your SM presence, or if you simply need strategic advice- please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. My new cell is 781-690-5998 and I can be emailed at dshowerman@gmail.com or dshowerman@sokolovelaw.com.

Happy holidays everyone! I wish you all the best! I will be following up soon with a post about not being afraid to ask.
